Graffiti

When you are driving into a city you see graffiti everywhere! Some people consider it vandalism and others a way of art. Graffiti has existed since ancient times, from paintings in the caves of France in Lascaux, to Egyptian hieroglyphics, graffiti has made a huge impact in art. One of the most famous artist Michelangelo, known for his famous painting in the Sistine Chapel in Rome, was also known for his "graffiti". In a news article I found on the internet, Vincenzo Sansonetti, an art historian, said that the Michelangelo sketches showed the he was "the greatest graffiti artist of all time".   http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/article1130810.ece more of the article talks about how he was unable to stop "doodling" while he was in a cellar beneath San Lorenzo, where he passed the time drawing on the walls.

To Trash Or Not To Trash

I was thinking about what I should post next so I was looking at different ways of art and I started to remember all the cool stuff my Grandpa did for us when we were little. He is an amazing artist and influences me every day. He use to work for Disney along time ago and draws on our Birthday cards with little cartoon drawings still. But he did more then just draw he would turn your every day trash (like a milk carton) in to art by just painting and cutting it to look like a dog or what ever you wanted. He showed me that trash could be more then just trash. Some of his art included welding scrap metal together that he found laying in the back of our barn most likely to never be used, one of those pieces was a 4 foot tall rooster he welded for my mom for her to put in the garden were it still is now. More of his art included pastels, painting, and making giant rocking horses with nothing but old used up wood and other materials. So to end this post I just wanted to say in your eyes is trash just trash or is it something more. I love you Grandpa!
